Sandi Bache is a Detroit-based multidisciplinary artist recognized for her large-scale abstract Polaroid transfers and minimalist paintings. A graduate of the College for Creative Studies, Bache refined her technical expertise in New York City, where she spent 15 years working with prestigious institutions such as Magnum Photos, Trunk Archives and the Polaroid 20x24 Studio.
During her tenure in New York, Bache maintained a dual-practice studio in Williamsburg, using painting as a liberation from the rigid technical rules of traditional photography. This experimentation resulted in a body of work characterized by quiet, expansive abstractions that bridge the gap between film and canvas. Since returning to Detroit in 2011, she has continued to explore the intersection of color and technique. Her recent solo exhibition, Polaroid Transfers, showcased vibrant, large-format works that utilized rare film stock for the now-extinct Polaroid 20x24 camera.
